Density, community and the future of housing and public space

Studio trajectory leader Tanja Herdt

The studio will investigate the question on how urban design interventions contribute to the successful balance of urban qualities in densification and urban transformation schemes, such as the growth of dense inner-city neighbourhoods as well as the shrinkage of towns and settlements in rural regions and suburban peripheries. Through the study of urban morphology and typologies, students will research on the availability and usability of public space and communal infrastructure and study the design of urban typologies to support the future need for high-quality housing and public infrastructure.
